The old Abbey Station next to Shrewsbury Abbey has been lovingly restored and all it was missing was a sign worthy of the building.

Mary Davies made use of Shrewsbury Town Council's Local Councillor Grant Scheme to award the Abbey Station and the Shrewsbury Railway Heritage Trust £500 towards the cost of cast iron sign.

Mary said: "I was happy to support the restoration project as the Trust has worked hard over recent months to organise the improvement works and the building is now transformed into an excellent venue for community groups to use. It was a pleasure to make the donation for the cast iron sigh as it is a fabulous finishing touch to the building."

Shrewsbury Town Council provides a Grant scheme to help local organisations and encourages them to apply for funding to help achieve their objectives.
