Alex Wagner

Shrewsbury Town and Shropshire Council Councillor for Quarry and Coton Hill

Cllr Alex Wagner at Shrewsbury Library

Alex was born and educated in Shrewsbury, though grew up just outside of town around Maesbrook and Kinnerley.

He has built up a record as a well-respected local campaigner, working for Shrewsbury residents on issues as varied as GP access and keeping our streets tidy to cutting congestion in the loop.

First elected to represent the now-abolished Bowbrook ward in May 2021, he was re-elected to Shrewsbury Town Council to represent the residents Quarry and Coton Hill in May 2025.

He has served as Vice-Chair of the Town Centre Residents’ Association and is a member of the Board of Trustees at The Hive independent arts charity on Belmont.

His family are local solicitors and have deep roots in Shropshire, going as far back as serving as the Master Tailors of Clun in the late 17th century with more relatives just over the Welsh border in Radnorshire.

In his spare time, Alex is a fan of Shrewsbury Town FC, regularly goes to indie and punk music gigs, and watches far too much test match cricket.
