Save the Glebelands, Bayston Hill. Petition to Shropshire Council

The Glebelands has been used by villagers of Bayston Hill for decades. It is a valuable and much loved community open space, crossed by footpaths which have been used without interruption since 1949.

Open, Green spaces are vital for mental health and well-being and the loss of this area to housing would be hugely detrimental to local residents and conflicts with recent government policy. The development would also increase the strain on existing infrastructure.

“We, the undersigned local residents, OBJECT to planning application 23/02061/OUT on the grounds that it results in the loss of a playing field that has been used by the community of Bayston Hill since 1949. It would impact an already stretched local infrastructure; flooding and drainage have not been adequately addressed; the ecological survey was undertaken when most wildlife dormant. It would impact both parking and traffic; and does not address local housing needs. Further development within Bayston Hill village is unsustainable. This application represents a considerable deviation from the draft local plan BAY050. Therefore, we request that the Council fully consider all objections and refuse permission.”
