"We Liberal Democrats strive for a society that is open, tolerant and free of prejudice. I strongly support the Rainbow Film Festival both as a contribution to the rich cultural variety in Shrewsbury and as part of the campaign against discrimination across the community. If elected to Parliament I would continue the long Lib Dem tradition of speaking up for equality of all people regardless of sexual orientation. There has been much progress in recent years, and much to celebrate. But as long as homophobia still rears its ugly head in workplaces, in classrooms, and even in the home - politicians must continue to speak out."
