Dr Charles West welcomes new hope for Transport in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Dr Charles West welcomed today's announcement that DB are to take over Arriva.

"This gives the potential for better co-ordination of services, timetabling and ticketing for the People of Shrewsbury and Atcham. DB is the parent company for Wrexham and Shropshire railways who have deservedly built a strong reputation for service and good value. We have the potential now to integrate train and bus services in and around Shrewsbury, the opportunity to link ticket sales for the different services and to improve the links between Shropshire, London, Wales, the Midlands and the North.

"As Shrewsbury's MP I shall be seeking a meeting with managers at Arriva at the earliest opportunity to encourage developing a better, and more co-ordinated service for our travellers."
